She's the 10-week old daughter of our dear friends Matt and Sarah. Recently, she had massive heart failure and needs a miracle. The family lives in Germany, which is where we worked with them, and is asking everyone around the world to lift up their daughter before the Lord. They're asking that the medication for the muscle in her left ventricle take effect and heal it and that she would be able to be weaned off the life support machine starting today.
Please pray for Anna Pearl.
Ho hum, the Gators won another NCAA title. 
I used to say that the SEC was the nation's best football conference and the ACC was best in basketball.
Not any more.
Lightning has struck three times in the same place for the Florida Gators as they won their second basketball title in as many years and the school's third title in just over a year's time. Their 84-75 victory over new-archrival Ohio State put the icing on the cake for UF sports.
To my non-sporting fans: I understand this doesn't mean much to you but to those of you who have followed any college sports, you know what an accomplishment this really is. Here are some of the headlines around the web along with some pics:
No fooling, it's Kathy's mom's birthday today. Yesterday, we celebrated it early by having a barbecue, and I must say, the ribs were D-licious! She received one of those new fangled toasters...so I won't have to beat the bagels into the slot anymore. She really enjoyed the new mah jongg set and Andre Rieu CD.

This is almost too hard to believe. Florida versus Ohio State again for a national title...in a different sport! This all occurs within months of each championship game. Yesterday, the Gators 
dispatched Randy Kent's 
team, the Bruins, 76-66, so now they'll meet the squad from Ohio State tomorrow night for the championship. It's Round 6 for both teams and should be very interesting. In football, the heavily-favored Buckeyes were drilled by the Gators 41-14 on January 8th for the national title. Now it's the Gators who are favored, though not by much. What's the probability that the same two teams would meet for the title in two different sports in the same year?
Oh, and another statistical oddity: this is the first time that a team with the same starting five attempted a second championship.

So now we'll take on the University of California Los Angeles with the winner going on to the finals. As I recall, it's Randy Kent's team and last year around this time, we were talking smack during Monday night hoops. Yeah, I think I'm having a deja vu moment.

Yeah, there are only four teams left after four rounds of the tournament. Florida's 85-77 victory over Oregon (sorry Sean) upped their winning streak to eight. The Gators need to win two more games to repeat as national champs. First, they'll face UCLA in a rematch oflast year's championship game which the Gators won 73-57. It probably won't be that easy since everybody's gunning for Florida this year and UCLA will want to even the score. You know we can't let that happen...

Last night I watched the Gators eke by Butler while walking on a treadmill. Exercise is a great way to alleviate stress. All the SEC (southeast conference) teams have been eliminated save Florida. Will the Gators repeat? First, they'll have to get past Oregon in the round of eight (8 teams left out of 64). Even though it's tough for a Drake to root against a Duck, I'll try.

This morning, I figured I'd swing by our local library, Freedom Library, just to casually peruse books. As I was about the leave, I asked the librarian--out of curiosity--if they had Rosetta Stone software because I couldn't find it on the card catalog. She said they offered the entire series online...for free!!!
This software is very expensive. If you think I'm kidding, check out the prices for it on eBay or Amazon. Want to learn German, Spanish, French, Arabic or a couple of dozen other languages? Do yourself a favor and see if your local library offers it too.
PS: Remember to root for the Gators tonight!
